People who’ve never read a Guardians of the Galaxy comic are running around and screaming today because it’s been announced that the comic will be the basis for Marvel’s next big film for 2014 movie and now they’re it’s biggest fans.
So firstly I’d like to say; Fuck you guys. I’ve been reading a comic featuring a talking Raccoon munitions expert and a sentient tree monarch before it was cool (and had to take shit for it too…grumble).
Right, now that that’s out of my system Variety has confirmed Marvel are planning to release the flick on May 16th, 2014.
The team will be travelling back in time from the 31st Century to, “help to battle the Badoon, an evil alien race that attempts to conquer Earth’s solar system.” which is more in line with the original Guardian’s of the Galaxy tales from the 80′s than the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning version of recent times.
Marvel are said to be very happy with the script written by Nicole Perlman, a relative unknown who came out of Disney’s screenwriting program and bedazzled them with her epic mad skills.
Don’t be surprised if this gets announced at SDCC formally to a creamy knickered audience of squealing fan boys.
Marvel Studios are also said to be working on Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and The Inhumans (as well as The Avengers 2 in 2015).
